The Panasonic GH1 was the first Micro Four Thirds camera to include HD video recording capability. Panasonic was the first to take the chip from the GH1 and put it into a camcorder body — combining all the power of the large CMOS sensor with the benefits of a video camera.

Sony Corporation announced today that it is developing a new type of AVCHD high definition camcorder which features key technologies powering the newly announced interchangeable lens digital camera, “NEX-5″ and “NEX-3″ and plans to commercialize the new HD camcorder in fall 2010.

Optics specialist Carl Zeiss introduces the next-generation Lightweight Zoom — the LWZ.2 — and the world’s first set of cine lenses designed specially for HDSLR cameras: the Compact Prime CP.2 lenses.

Each model includes three Canon developed and designed native 1920 x 1080 CMOS image sensors, and the new Canon XF Codec for improved color detail.

With the introduction of the new 550D/Rebel T2i, Canon just added full HD (1080p) video recording capability to its entry-level range of DSLRs. But will this camera create a new generation of digital artists?
